Hollows in full colour and more in tune with the 1980s
This release changes the game in a number of fundamental ways. Mostly what I learned was that I left out key aspects of what made 1980s gaming so joyful:
* colour! If you only have sixteen colours, you make use of all of them; the greyscale of earlier builds took the player back one decade too far
* the music has to be of a piece with the era the game harks back to
* desktop support (Windows, Linux, Mac) is a must as the keyboard as controller is a central part of the experience
* one tiny but significant aspect of the 80s game Thrust this build restores is the distinctive white noise loop when the player engages thrust
* when on mobile, the controls need to work well from small phones to large tablets; in practice, earlier versions of the touch interface were cumbersome on larger screens; the portrait view was especially difficult in this regard
Grateful for all feedback on these changes and the game as a whole! Are the levels too easy, too hard or about right? Very happy to create new levels!
